Brussel Nooooo

We have successfully produced a couch potato! He loves his movies and quiet honestly and sad to say it seems as if taking them away is way more of a punishment than time out or spankings! Troy is currently quite taken with the movie Up and The Polar Express so much so that I try to get him down for a nap and he starts to quote the movies! so funny. He calls the little boy Russel from Up Brussel and he likes to out of the blue say Brussel nooooo. We joked that it would be funny if we named the baby Russel. Poor kid would get no from all directions! Today he watched the Polar Express multiple times. Don't get me wrong he does get some exercise out of watching the shows as he rarely sits still. he is always dancing and moving to the music or the sound of the choo choo train!

Other funny things that make us laugh is the fact that he wakes up almost every morning and asks "Where's Tasi?" he then proceeds to make his goggle face and look for her. Tasi is my in laws...Jr and Lindsays dog. We had a great time over thanksgiving when they were here for a visit. However I think Troy is secretly hoping they left their dog for him! What is even funnier about this whole scenario is while they were here Troy would say in a pretty stern voice "Tasi come, come Tasi." and when Tasi would come Troy would run away. I have a little footage of him almost falling over the back of the couch when Tasi did as he said and jumped up next to him...priceless!

He was also pretty fond of his cousin Leila. Every baby and every baby pic he sees including his own he gets all excited and says "there's Leila!" Hopefully he will have no problems adjusting to a new little brother.

No more afros!

Today was haircutting day at our house. both Troy and Edwin were in need of a haircut in the worst way. I wish that I would have taken a shot of all the hair that I cleaned off the ground but I didn't so here is the before and afters...well the before of Troy and the afters of both handsome boys!

hee hee!!! so his afro wasn't quite this bad and was actually kind of cute. I didn't want to cut it at first but now we are glad we did! Here they are! cute boys!

ITS A BOY!

So last week we had our ultrasound and Troy is going to have a little brother to teach all of his tricks to! The shot was so clear that even I could tell  before she told us! With Troy I had no idea what they were looking at but with this one there is no denying that he is all boy! We are so excited and can't wait to see him! Troy is funny he will come lay his head on my belly and occasionally give it a head butt...I think as if to say to his little brother that he is the boss! It will be interesting to see how he reacts to a newborn in the house.

Halloween

This year we had a lot of fun on halloween. We originally bought Troy a Wolverine costume...he picked out by the way but when we tried it on him it was skin tight and did not do justice for him or the character. It kind of reminded me of the Incredibles where Mr incredible is trying to make his comeback and his chubby tummy was in the way...lol! this is how Troy was in his costume. so we changed it up for an army costume. He was a lil soldier.  We took him to the wards trunk or treat. we had no idea how big it was going to be. this is the first time in 7 years that we ran out of candy...and in less than an hour. I think that many more came to celebrate with us becuase it is a safe place to gather lots of candy! At first Troy wanted nothing to do with the candy. We made a loop around the parking lot and Troy would only get close to maybe 3 cars so we went back and helped pass out candy. after he realized all the kids were getting candy we went out for round 2 and he did a little bit better this time stopping at most of the cars! It was fun. Next year we will bring lots more candy. After trunk or treat we went over to our friends Carlie and Stewarts so that Troy could do a little more trick or treating. IT was a fun visit and Troy definitely scored on the candy this year!  Notice  in the pic of Edwin and Troy where Troys  hand is at! not sure when he will out grow this! But we think it is funny! In the other pic is our good friends Carlie and Stewart with Troy and Edwin.

Let the games begin!

"I'm concentrating...this might actually be my game!"

"Mom, when did you get here?"

"I give up...why can't I ever beat this guy?"

"Really dad...I'm only 2...you beat a 2 yr old...hope you feel good now!"

Silly Boy!

So apparently Troy still thinks he can bathe in the sink...I think he was small enough to bathe in the sink once when he was a baby(although that was never really documented on film) after that he was too chubby but he still thinks he has got it! :) so this is what I found when I told him to get ready for a bath.I think he is secretly an environmentalist who is trying to conserve water!

So we bought Troy some new church clothes. I think he looks super handsome...takes after his dad!!! He actually managed to leave his tie on for the entire time...well once we got him used to it anyway! :)

I know what you did last summer...lol

Here is  a little flashback to last halloween. Troy was ready to scare the trick or treaters!...

never mind, I'll just eat their candy!!!

SMILES!!!

Sleepy Boy

So I was looking at pics the other day and noticed these of troy...he could fall asleep anywhere. I am so glad of the one on the stairs that he did not roll over. it is a long way down!

Catching up

So a lot has happened since our previous post. first of all our little one is now two. Where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday we were bringing home from the hospital... a little baby and now he is pushing 50 lbs and stands about 38 inches tall. He makes us laugh most all the time and every now and again tries our patience as a typical two year old is supposed. We are casually trying to potty train and he is doing alright with it. I think he enjoys playing in the bathroom more but does manage to let us know when he needs to go. All in all life is definitely so much fun with this little guy around! Happy Happy late birthday to you! (just a little late July 4th)

Next...Edwin finished his first semester of school with straight A's...what a smart guy! He put a lot of work into it and it definitely paid off. He is now in his second semester and in addition to the school work will begin his observation hours in a Physical Therapy clinic as well as his volunteer work at the hospital just down the street. He will get to sit with the cute older ladies at the front desk directing visitors as to where to go! Looking through the pics...we have no recent pics of us...only of Troy so here is one of Edwin and Troy...cute boys! on a side note the Buccaneers aren't doin so hot...(0-4) Edwin is looking for a new team...lol hahahahahaha!

So as to the other happenings in our life. I started another job. It is per diem in Labor and Delivery at one of the other hospitals in the area. It is nice to get a different view of how things are done. I work there just once a week if they need me. I continue to work at the other hospital as well. I can't believe it has been five years already. where does the time go? I feel very blessed to have gone to nursing school. I think about it often how I almost went to cosmetology school instead. I love to do hair and thought it would be a good profession however when things weren't working out how I had planned, I moved home and started into nursing school. a decision that I am so so glad to have made. I love being a nurse. somedays it is very challenging but I think I have the best job ever. Thanks to mom and dad for all your support in my earlier years when I wasn't sure what I was going to do and again thanks for helping me get through school. also a big thanks to Edwin the bestest husby ever for delaying your plans for school so that I could finish. I couldn't have done it without you! by the way the pic is from my first graduation 7 years ago...wow! 7 already!

We continue to be blessed to have mom and dad Stevenson live with us. They are doing well and are a big help expecially with Troy. They seem to match his energy and Troy loves having them around. Thanks so much for all you do!!!

So as for our latest and most exciting news...our family is expanding...and so is my stomach...lol. we are expecting another baby in March!!! yay! we are so excited and can't wait to see what we are having. Troy has been such a blessing in our lives that we can only imagine what two will do! We got a little glimpse of how Troy will treat another baby when his little cousin was here. it was neat to see his interactions at that young age and how sympathetic he seemed to be. We can't wait! Hopefully he will adjust well to a new roommate and a new little being occupying everyones time.

Nifty Quote!!!

"Be yourself, everyone else is taken!"

I am not sure who wrote this quote but I just saw it tonight and thought it was worth sharing! It is a good reminder that all of us are unique individuals and we all have something to offer! besides life gets too complicated when you try to be someone else!

Back to School!

So as for other exciting news Edwin started school today. With the economy the way it is we decided that the best thing was for him to return to school. Today starts his journey to becoming a Physical Therapist! Good Luck.. We are so proud of you!

Happy Anniversary!!!

Seven years ago today I had the honor of being sealed for time and all eternity to the love of my life in the St. George LDS Temple.  and as I sit here and think about that wonderful day and the past seven years a lot of thoughts come to my mind...including why is this all underlined? I think I am a little computer illiterate ugggh. anyhows I was thinking that today is the perfect day to tell our story!

The very first time we met, I was set to teach my first sunday school class in the Dixie College 14th ward. Edwin was one of three that came to class that day...the other two were ward missionaries so they had to come considering it was the gospel essentials class! I must not have made that great of an impression because Edwin quit coming to my class. eventually they released me and that was that. I hadn't seen him for a while when I decided to go to a family home evening one night. It was a night in September(2001) and I hadn't planned on going but needed a break from studying.  When I drove into the parking lot of the church I felt kind of lonely. I didn't know very many people and was wondering why I even went. when I walked up to the circle of people I happened to be standing right next to Edwin. He also hadn't planned to go but had his mind changed when some girls called and invited him. The activity was to go hiking. We were all meeting at the church and then would drive over to the trail. Edwin, living close by had walked and was going to ride over to the trail with the girls that had invited him. however they were late!!! HA! with that being said you could call this next part fate or a tremendous blessing from Heavenly Father! Edwin asked if he could ride with me! Which of course I said yes and so started the opportunity to get to know him. From that point on we met up up at some activities here and there including playing volleyball, more church activities and a trip to some caves in Snow Canyon! At the beginning of November we had decided that we were more than just buddies! and a few days later I knew that he was the one I would share my life with. you know they say when it is the right time you just know and I knew that I was truly blessed to have him in my life. The feeling was mutual and we started talking about marriage. Edwin proposed on Valetines day and we were married on June 8, 2002. Our life together has been amazing and it keeps getting better. I am so blessed to be able to share my life with Edwin and I look forward to everyday of our eternal journey together. On our anniversary I just want to say to him I love you always and forever! Thanks for being my husby!!!

Troy's security blanket...or should I say security chin!!!

Troy has never really been attatched to anything. It was easy breaking him away from the pacifier, the bottles etc. no fuss made but looking over pictures and watching him we realized he does have a security item...Edwins chin! everytime Edwin holds him or lays by him the first thing Troy does is rub his chin. it is super cute and way too funny. some nights I will come home from work to find the boys asleep but Troy still rubbing Edwins chin!

July 4th 2007 was when we welcomed our lil' Troy into this world and what a special day that was. As parents, we could not have been blessed with a more healthier baby and he was quick to show off his strength by holding up his head just minutes after birth as he sat there and looked at us while the nurse was getting his weight and height.  We'll never forget that wonderful feeling and experience of being first time parents , and how excited and anxious we were to be able to hold him between the feeding times, and when he had be taken back with the nurses to ensure that all was well with  him, and how excited we were to finally bring him home.

Almost two years later & it is just a blessing to watch him continue to grow into a happy, fun loving young boy who is always full of energy and always has a big smile on his face (well most of the time..hehe). He has come a long way from being shy around new faces to just having a great time with his family, his grandparents and especially with his cousins. Troy is always doing something new everyday that just puts a smile on our faces and its almost sad to see him growing up so fast. There are countless things that he does or says that just brightens up the mood throughout the day, and that sometimes has us trying to remember what it was like before we were blessed to have him in our lives.
