Sick lil' ones

We have had some sickness in our household...and one thing I did not prepare myself for is when one child gets sick the other one is bound to get sick. Or perhaps all of us might get what's goin around. For example...Troy was sick thru the weekend, cough, fever etc. Took him to the pediatricians and he has an ear infection and quite possibly some seasonal allergies which will keep him inside for now until they can get cleared up.  Yesterday when I woke up with Blake I noticed he was wheezing and a little barking seal cough that started the night before...very nonproductive although it sounded as if he were going to cough up lots. So back to the pediatricians office for about the 11th time in 2 months. All to find out that Blake has Bronchiolitis and is now on breathing treatments. The nebulizer has a cute little childrens mask it is camouflaged as a fish face...so cute we took a pic of Blake with his first breathing treatments.

Blake was starting to get a little restless with the mask over his face...I think he was trying to get around to where he could chew on the plastic! He eventually gave up and fell asleep during the second treatment.

The boys are starting to do better. They are good kids, smiley and happy. The only thing that I think leads us on to Troy still not feeling well is his desire to nap twice a day...it normally is hard to get him down for 1 nap let alone 2. but all this week he has wanted extra sleep. He is goin on day 4 of antibiotics. Blake is a smiley guy too! still wheezing and coughing but able to lie down to sleep tonight where as last night was kind of a rough one.

Now for a bit of craziness...Blake is catching up to Troy. He was 16 lbs even today 25 " long. At 11 weeks old that is just nuts but we are used to it, his older brother did the same thing so he is now on the gain a pound a week routine and won't be my tiny baby for long. Troy at three weeks shy of turning 3 weighs in 52 lbs...down 1 lb from his last visit... and stands at 40 1/4" tall...up 1 1/4" from last visit. Here are some pics from birth and now for both boys...

Happy 8th my love!

Today we celebrate our eighth anniversary and what an amazing eight+ years it has been! It didn't start out so hot today as when Blake woke up at 1:30 this morning...I also woke up to the stomach flu. blah. I hate throwing up. I would not make a good bulemic that's for sure. Anyhows I was up most of the night sick and it seems as though I would start to fall back asleep and Blake would wake up or Troy...who is also sick... would wake up. What an amazing man that I married to get up and take care of the boys and at 2:30 as I sat miserable in front of the toilet went out and bought me some sprite. After a sleepless night for the both of us...he sent me upstairs to take a nap this morning and when I woke up this is what I found...

my boys all fast asleep. I just smiled, grabbed the nearest camera, took the pic then layed down beside them feeling absolutely blessed for two super cute boys and a wonderful man who supports me, who is a great dad to our sweet boys and loves me  always even the days when I am not my best self. Thanks for everything and a happy happy anniversary. I love you always and forever!

March 25, 2010

So I am a little late in posting this and therefore will title it March 25, 2010 for that is the date that we welcomed our second little boy into this world!

Weighing in at 8#11oz 21 inches long...born at 1457...Introducing Edwin Blake Stevenson...

After nine glorius months of pregnancy we set our induction date and headed to the hospital bright and early that thursday morning. We were scheduled to be there at 5:30 am and well with a little man(Troy) awake at that time it was a little harder to leave him knowing that what we were to do would change his world...to the rest of us for the better...but to him he is still trying to figure it out. So we arrived at the hospital @ 5:40...oops but they still took us! Our nurse Nikki took us to our room...red carpet rolled out and everything for the big day!

After being admitted..they started the pitocin @ 6:30...broke my water about 8:30...epidural around 1100...baby @ 1457. It went really smooth...so smooth that I am now a fan of inductions not sure I was a fan of my last induction(32 hrs from start to finish) but this one all but made up for it! and the prize at the end is a most beautiful baby boy!

Not sure you can really tell in this picture but he did have some facial bruising from his quick trip through the birth canal and the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck twice so he was a little pale from the get go but all in all a healthy happy boy! We feel very blessed to have him in our family!

Here are some random pics of the delivery...hope my friends don't mind!

momma's nurse Nikki! and baby nurse Carlie!...Edwin waiting to cut the umbilical cord...which he ended up doing before they delivered the body because of it being wrapped around his neck...The lovely Dr Dickens with Edwin... thanks for the great delivery!...Big Boy...Mommy, Daddy and Blake!

Relieved to have the delivery over with I was now looking forward to having Troy come and meet his brother. Edwin went home and checked on him but as he did not have a nap that day and had been up since the early early morning he crashed when Edwin got home so he came the following day to meet his new lil brother...

not sure he knew what to think...but as time went on he warmed up to the idea of a little brother...at least at the hospital it was a great idea!

During our hospital stay we had a surprise visit from grandma and grandpa!

They just couldn't wait to get a glimpse of grandbaby number 40! It was so fun to have them stop in...even if it was only for a couple hours it meant a lot to us. We also got a little visit from aunt Jan just hours after his birth but I didn't get a pic...sorry Jan...thx for stopping by before flyin home!

So our hospital stay comes to an end and a new beginning with 2 little boys starts and this is what we looked like as we jumped into our new journey...

Brussel Nooooo

We have successfully produced a couch potato! He loves his movies and quiet honestly and sad to say it seems as if taking them away is way more of a punishment than time out or spankings! Troy is currently quite taken with the movie Up and The Polar Express so much so that I try to get him down for a nap and he starts to quote the movies! so funny. He calls the little boy Russel from Up Brussel and he likes to out of the blue say Brussel nooooo. We joked that it would be funny if we named the baby Russel. Poor kid would get no from all directions! Today he watched the Polar Express multiple times. Don't get me wrong he does get some exercise out of watching the shows as he rarely sits still. he is always dancing and moving to the music or the sound of the choo choo train!

Other funny things that make us laugh is the fact that he wakes up almost every morning and asks "Where's Tasi?" he then proceeds to make his goggle face and look for her. Tasi is my in laws...Jr and Lindsays dog. We had a great time over thanksgiving when they were here for a visit. However I think Troy is secretly hoping they left their dog for him! What is even funnier about this whole scenario is while they were here Troy would say in a pretty stern voice "Tasi come, come Tasi." and when Tasi would come Troy would run away. I have a little footage of him almost falling over the back of the couch when Tasi did as he said and jumped up next to him...priceless!

He was also pretty fond of his cousin Leila. Every baby and every baby pic he sees including his own he gets all excited and says "there's Leila!" Hopefully he will have no problems adjusting to a new little brother.

No more afros!

Today was haircutting day at our house. both Troy and Edwin were in need of a haircut in the worst way. I wish that I would have taken a shot of all the hair that I cleaned off the ground but I didn't so here is the before and afters...well the before of Troy and the afters of both handsome boys!

hee hee!!! so his afro wasn't quite this bad and was actually kind of cute. I didn't want to cut it at first but now we are glad we did! Here they are! cute boys!

ITS A BOY!

So last week we had our ultrasound and Troy is going to have a little brother to teach all of his tricks to! The shot was so clear that even I could tell  before she told us! With Troy I had no idea what they were looking at but with this one there is no denying that he is all boy! We are so excited and can't wait to see him! Troy is funny he will come lay his head on my belly and occasionally give it a head butt...I think as if to say to his little brother that he is the boss! It will be interesting to see how he reacts to a newborn in the house.
